“Readioo creates a playful path to knowledge” - Vivvi, preschool teacher

In Dibber's activities, the children's self-esteem and self-confidence are in focus, where an important component to becoming a confident individual is access to a rich language. Through various initiatives, Dibber works actively to develop children's language and communication skills. One of these initiatives is using Readioo, which gives children the opportunity to interact with language in an engaging and stimulating way.

Language development with Readioo at Förskolan Love

At Dibber's preschool Love in Sollentuna, I got an insight into how Readioo is used in practice. Department manager Vivvi welcomed me and enthusiastically told me:

– The children are so delighted with the reading pen! We introduced it just a few weeks ago and it immediately became a big favorite. We are so pleased! It creates a playful path to knowledge.

Free play was on the agenda and the children were spread out in different parts of the room. In the reading corner, a few children were engrossed in Readioo. They were doodling on words, repeating them out loud to each other and then giving each other a high-five. Vivvi told us how the reading pen has become a valuable tool for a child who recently moved to Sweden:

– She often goes to the reading corner here and uses the reading pen. For her, the pen is a safe start in language development.

Readioo has been introduced in all departments of the preschool. Younger children use the pen to build vocabulary by listening and repeating single words. Older children enjoy hearing whole stories, which complements the usual reading aloud. With Readioo, children can now have books read to them whenever they want and as often as they want, making book reading more accessible.

“We also have several children who receive support from speech therapists, and for them the reading pen is extra valuable. It gives them an opportunity to discover language on their own terms,” says Vivvi.

In addition to this, the Readioo reading pen can be used in several creative ways:

  • As a complement during reading aloud sessions: With the help of sounds and music from the pen, children can hear the dog barking or the guitar playing - a playful way to make the stories even more alive.
  • For continued reading at home: By lending out the reading pen and books, children can continue their learning at home – especially valuable for those who need extra support or have a different home language.

Now it was time for a snack and I thanked him. Feeling very warm inside, I waved goodbye to Vivvi and the happy children. Proud that Readioo has created something that really makes a difference to children's language development.
