“Why can't books talk?”

Two young parents of young children under 30 decided to realize an idea: that children could discover books and language with joy.

The journey took off from the kitchen table – today Readioo books and reading pens are used by thousands of families.

At the beginning of 2024, Inga Li founded the EdTech company Readioo, introducing a new audiobook format for children where books come to life with sound, speech, and music.

Inga moved to Sweden eight years ago and has since become a mother of two. As a parent, she quickly discovered the challenge of teaching her children to read Swedish, especially since it is not her native language. She also noticed how difficult it is to make physical books appealing in a world where screens constantly compete for children’s attention. To address these challenges, she developed a solution that combines reading and listening, promoting children’s language development in an engaging way.

"During my childhood, books were my best friend, and they still are. Working in the book industry, especially with children’s books, feels meaningful and is something I am proud of. It contributes to positive societal development and hopefully inspires children to start reading early in life. I came up with the idea to create an open platform where books and other products aimed at children can easily ‘talk’. My ambition is to welcome publishers to make their books interactive through our platform, making Readioo a natural part of the book world," says Inga Li, founder of Readioo.

Readioo’s vision is to make reading fun and inclusive through a screen-free experience.

After six months, Linda also joined as a co-founder, and her commitment gave Readioo new energy and momentum. Together with her mother, who is a licensed speech therapist, she created our most popular book: Letters: Exploring the letter sounds from A to Z.

Linda's drive and passion for children's language development have been crucial to our ability to continue developing products that truly make a difference. The result is a book that is loved by children, parents and educators alike, and which marked the start of our continued rapid development.

Feiyang is CTO and co-founder. With an engineering background from KTH, he has built the platform that enables us to quickly and with high quality integrate audio into our books – making collaborations with publishers both smooth and efficient.

Moa joined Readioo as an intern just a few months after it was founded and has since contributed both energy and creativity. She is also a co-author of several of our popular books.

Lelle is an experienced profile in the publishing and media industry with over 30 years of background in business development, sales and marketing of books, children's content and games.

Amanda has been our intern and Instagram coordinator. She has created many appreciated posts that have helped us grow on social media.

Natte helps us with sales and marketing. You may have met her at NK Bokhandel where she demonstrates Readioo's products and meets customers on site.

Cissi , Linda's sister, has helped us at trade fairs and with sales, among other things - always with the same energy and commitment.

Mila and Bella , Inga's daughters, have been our youngest “product developers” since they were 2 and 3 years old. Their most important test method? Whether the product ends up on the floor or becomes a favorite on the bookshelf.
