Teacher Malin: "Good for children who are cracking the reading code"

I got to try out Readioo, such a fun thing. It's a "pen" that you tap on the book and then it reads out loud (through a code) what you point to. Sometimes it's a piece of text, sometimes different things and sometimes you get to hear what the different characters say. The musical instruments in the book play a trudelutt. In this particular book, a princess is coming to visit and we get to follow the preparations for it.

My kids are actually older than the intended target audience as they are 10 and (soon) 14, but both of them thought it was great fun. They tapped on just about everything in the book to find what was coded. Sometimes you can tap on a character and hear it talk, but if you also tap on an object the character is holding, the pen reads out what the object is. My daughter wondered why Readioo wasn't available when she was little because she would have loved it.

Readioo can also be used with headphones and I think it should be a perfect activity for, for example, longer car trips. Good for children who are cracking the reading code or simply for a fun screen-free activity. It stimulates the interest in reading and the joy of books.

I, like my children, found it fun to sit and dab the pen and follow the story. It's like a combination of an audiobook and reading yourself. Incredibly impressed by this technology.
