Pedagogue Maria: "An innovative and elaborate language development material"

My name is Maria Holmsten and I work as a teacher at a preschool in Linköping. Right now I work with children aged 4–5. In the preschool we work based on the curriculum and at our preschool we have chosen a language goal this school year around storytelling, interest in letters, etc. We work daily with language play and reading aloud where we give linguistic development a lot of focus. This means that we make sounds, rhyme, have the letter of the week and play with words in different ways.

When the children were allowed to try Readioo for the first time, they became very curious and engaged. They were eager to try it themselves, and spent a long time exploring together . It felt like the “magic pen”, as the children call it, motivated them in a new way that made them stay focused longer than usual. When the children were asked how they experienced the material, the answers were: - Everything was good! - I want a pen like that! - It was great fun! - I would like to have a reading pen like this when I start school. Then you don't have to ask the teacher how to learn to read :)

Readioo's materials are easy to use, both for the children and us educators. When I have taken out the reading pen and the letter book or a poster, the children have immediately become curious and wanted to use the materials. This makes letters, words and reading more alive for the children . I also think it is a good way to combine play and learning , as it is nice to see the children using the materials together!

We have mainly used the material in our language play when we worked with letters. The pen and material will eventually be easily accessible so the children can choose it themselves during free activities.

I think Readioo is an exciting, innovative and elaborate language development material that really creates curiosity for letters, to make sounds and to get a pre-understanding for reading. The children have really appreciated the material and as an educator I think it is fun with new and educational material. It is an inspiring material that really captures the children's interest and makes learning fun. The best reward is the children's engagement, so if you work in preschool - dare to try it!
